Duffy Law, LLC
Composed of a former federal prosecutor, federal defender and federal criminal defense investigator, the three attorneys at Duffy Law represent clients nationally in Title IX actions and defense of serious university conduct code violations. They also focus on state and federal criminal defense and select civil rights actions.
The firm formed in 2015 when Attorney Felice Duffy retired as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and joined forces with the recently retired Federal Defender, Paul Thomas. While on opposite sides of cases for over a decade, they forged a deep respect for one another’s character, legal mind, competitiveness and sense of decorum. The practice has grown quickly and they added criminal defense attorney Justin Smith in 2017.
Between the three attorneys, they’ve handled thousands of cases, trying dozens of them to verdict. In 2016, Attorney Thomas represented a plaintiff in a race discrimination case that resulted in a jury verdict against the defendant employer and other employees of over $1.5 million, one of the largest jury awards that year in Connecticut.
Between them, Duffy Law’s attorneys have received numerous awards and recognitions for their contributions to the community ranging from the National Organization for Women - Alice Paul Award for Advocacy for the Advancement of Women, to the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s Champion of Liberty Award.
